How We Help

Program FAQs

  1. I am in need of utility assistance where should I go?
THAW services 75 Michigan counties contact our 800 line at 800.866.8429 for a list of participating sites or if you live in the Tri-County area (Wayne, Oakland and Macomb) counties contact 211 from your home land line to speak with a representative.

  2. I have contacted several THAW referral agencies and have not received a call back?
THAW can not control the volume of customers at each site. Many of our sites run programs other than THAW and have an intake process for servicing customers who are seeking THAW assistance. Please continue contacting the agency to schedule an appointment.

  3. I contacted THAW's 800 line and there is no THAW agency within my area?
THAW is continuing to expand our service territory and plan to become a state-wide agency but this takes time. Contact your local Salvation Army branch, community or religious organization to see if funds are available for your area.

  4. I am in need of assistance but do not qualify for THAW programs?
THAW services a specific population but there are times when an extreme hardship is placed on a individual or family. Contact your utility provider to enroll on a payment plan. The utility company is there to help but you must take the first step. Below are a list of contact numbers for our partnering utility companies:
