Who We Are
The Heat And Warmth Fund (THAW) is an independent non-profit agency that provides low-income individuals and families with emergency energy assistance and advocates for long-term solutions to energy issues.
Charity Navigator has rated THAW a FOUR STAR charity (the highest rating available) for three years in a row. This means that THAW "exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities." Only 11 percent of THAW's budget is spent on administrative and fundraising costs, while 89 percent of every dollar THAW receives goes directly to help those in need.
Since its inception in 1986, THAW has provided more than $58.8 million in assistance to more than 115,200 Michigan households, including elderly, unemployed, underemployed, disabled individuals who found themselves in temporary crisis.
During the 2006-2007 heating season, THAW distributed more than $9,528,000 in energy assistance to more than 8,600 households.
